! |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/4-%20CHINOOK/CHINOOK%20(2).JPG) |
Or
what to think of this... an awkward body ?? Forget it ! |

We
see the Chinook here at Gilze Rijen, exercising hoisting various objects |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/4-%20CHINOOK/CHINOOK%20(5).jpg) |
This
is done with the help of the loadmaster and the MAOT team on the ground. |

The
Chinook can carry troops, very heavy loads, also light equipment for in
the battlezone |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/9-%20DIVERSEN/Chinook%20Xtras%20(2).JPG) |
|
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/9-%20DIVERSEN/Chinook%20Xtras%20(1).JPG) |
Troops
are dropped in minutes, and can be collected within the same time
limit |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/9-%20DIVERSEN/Chinook%20Xtras%20(3).JPG) |
Exercised
many times, specially for the Afghan deserts where the brownwash effect is
major ! |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/9-%20DIVERSEN/Chinook%20Xtras%20(4).JPG) |
When
the job is done the material can be brought back by Chinook and
transported by C-130. |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/4-%20CHINOOK/Chinook%20over%20Gilze-Rijen.II.jpg) |
Seeing
it fly ait-to-air is amazing, the pilots manoeuvre like it's a shopping
car .... ;-) |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/4-%20CHINOOK/Picking%20up%20cargo.JPG) |
But
really, it is highly accurate work where absolutely no mistake can be
afforded !! |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/9-%20DIVERSEN/Another%20MAOT%20picture.JPG) |
The
MAOT (Mobile Air Operations Team, ground) are also specialists,
communication is vital ! |

Detail:
The 'MAOT'shows a metal isolated hook, discharging the static electricity
of the Chinook |

Due
to the windforce standing under a Chinook making pictures is hardly
possible !! A lucky shot ! |

The
LYNX helicopters belong to DHC but they are still based at MVK ´De Kooy´
at Den Helder |

pilots
of 7 and 860 Sqn are very fond of this helicopter. Its fast and well
maneuvrable... |

which is a condition for landing on for instance the HMS ´Rotterdam´
carrier. |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/LYNX%20(1).JPG) |
We
flew the LYNX from the Rotterdam to ashore Den Helder. Later on more about
Dutch Navy. |

Holland. |

Flying
LYNX is not only a men´s matter, though the role pattern seems to be
traditional... ;-) |

Usual

Our
host at Den Helder was Michel de Koning, pilot / instructor on the LYNX |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(4).JPG) |
|
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(8).JPG) |
Michel
showed us all about the simulator, where even all in the cockpit can be
seen on screens |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(5).JPG) |
|
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(6).JPG) |
This
'moving'simulator' gives a mighty good idea how it will be saving people
later on in real ! |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(7).JPG) |
|
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(3).JPG) |
Finally
we show you that also maintainance is done at De Kooy... |
![](/2010/1-%20PenV/DHC%20Gilze%20Rijen/5-%20LYNX/lnk-xtra%20(9).jpg) |
...
